How do you inspire a generation of young people to take pride in their CV?
The future can look bleak for young people who are at risk of dropping out of school or who have already slipped out of mainstream education.
Foyer Federation wanted to do something about this by encouraging young people to invest in themselves, learn new skills and have the confidence to enter the world of work.
Solution
We conducted stakeholder research to understand how young people felt about their life chances, their skill set and the world of work
Our core insight was that individual skills should be celebrated. This fed into the design of the platform, with a central idea of itemising skills and displaying them as badges.
We designed and developer the web platform - Popup Talent - as a social network where young people record the progress they're making towards developing new skills and find new opportunities; in some ways, a precursor to joining LinkedIn.

How do you fix the ethnicity employment gap?
Data shows that young Black men are the most underemployed group in the UK
Trust for London and Citybridge Trust wanted to do something about it, be sure that their efforts were working and understand where improvements were needed.
Solution
We ran a Theory of Change workshop with the 10+ organisations involved in delivering the Moving On Up programme
We created an impact measurement framework and put in place a digital system which allowed the partners to share data in relation to the programme
We delivered quarterly Learning Workshops for the partners and the funders to provide a space to reflect on what was working and share ideas for ways to improve
We conducted research with partners and young people to understand the effectiveness of the programme; those findings were summarised in our baseline report and evaluation report.

How do you capture the impact being made by UK university students volunteering on sports-related projects in Zambia?
This is the challenge put to us by UK Sport for their IDEALS programme
Solution
We built an Android mobile application that worked offline so that students could use it to record pictures and videos of the progress they made on their volunteering projects while in Zambia
We built in a 'local database' within the Android application so that data would automatically be synced to the cloud whenever there was an internet connection
UK Sport wanted students to be able to record the work being done with individual Zambians so we built a mini CRM into the Android application
The mobile app launched and we delivered training to the first cohort of users.
